About Karen Harris

Karen Harris

I have done a variety of things in my life. From being a mom, to president of PTA, different sales positions, including a Realtor with Ebby Halliday.

Color has always been big part of my life (wait till you see my paintings). My mom tells me she used to leave me in the candy aisle of the grocery. Was it the candy or was it the colors and shapes that fascinated me? I guess we will never know which it was. All I can say is I consider myself lucky to still be here. How does a mother leave her child unattended in the candy aisle????

I've painted off and on all of my life. Using a variety of mediums, from watercolor, acrylics and oils. My true passion is oils. I LOVE the vibrancy, the smell, how smoothly it goes on to the canvas and how easily I can pack it on. I figure if it's good enough for the Masters, it's certainly good enough for me!

Georgia O'Keefe has always been an inspiration to me. I love the way she used color and recreated the beauty surrounding us on canvas. People have compared some of my art with Monet by which I am always extremely flattered.

In the Spring of 2016 I completed my first art show. I was so excited, I couldn't sleep the night before. I actually sold three reproductions. Since then, I have been selected to participate in many more shows. I am so tickled that my art is prominently featured in numerous homes not only throughout Texas but across the country.

In 2016 I was part of the Midtown artists complex in Dallas. I am a member of TVAA (Texas Visual Arts Association) and have exhibited in their Gallery and shows. I am also a member of RCAS (Richardson Civic Arts Society). My award winning piece “The Deep” was chosen to be a part of their 51st Annual Regional Art Show held at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts.
